What is the difference for different paintball guns in general ?
They are all able to shoot the same distance so what is the difference in different paintball guns? Top rating to best answer!
The main differance is the kind of paintball the gun is disigned for.
Theirs speedball guns which are designed for rapid fire and quick easy manuverability. These guns are small and light but require much more maintenance. They are easily recognizable as they all have a very similare body shapes.
On the other side of paintball theirs woodsball guns which range greatly in size and designs which are often reflecting real life guns. These guns are usually more reliable and are made to take abuse. For example Tippmanns are often considered as the most reliable marker (gun) on the market. They also have a incredable range of accesories and upgrades, so you can go from a basic semi auto gun to a full auto gun with endless upgrades

alot of it is how many balls per second you can shoot
i think the barrel has to do with distances like the accuacy
and also different modes like
3 round burst,full auto,semi auto,single shot

Well higher end guns generally shoot faster, some are lighter, and all higher end guns tend to break less and are capable of more performance upgrades.
For example
Stock PMR vs Stock ion
The pmr is better stock, although both can be upgraded to shoot about the same accuracy and consistancy, the ion will break much more often than the pmr and will cost much more to upgrade to shoot like a PMR, you will also be able to upgrade the PMR more than the ion.
There are also differences like some guns are Stacked Tube Blowbacks, such as spyders and spyder clones, some are single tube blowback, some are pnuematic, some are pump like a stock class phantom.
Other things that split them apart are cosmetics, obviously every brand has its own look, and feel.

the video explains the different kind of guns. Mostly you get what you pay for in paintball. like if you buy a cheap spyder electra it will chop paint. But you buy an ego it won’t.
so pretty much if you spend a lot its good, if you don’t its ehhh

There are actually alot of different designs mostly internally that make the guns "different".
There are 2 categories and multiple deviations in those categories:
mechanical and electropneumatic
In mechanical guns the (blowback) trigger pulls the sear down which releases the "hammer" which is under spring tension, and the hammer hits the back of the valve pin and simultaneously moving the bolt via a bolt pin. Once the valve pin has traveled far enough to separate the cup seal from the valve body the compressed air travels through the valve body and through the bolt and propells the paintball down the barrel also simultaneously recocking the "hammer". This is accomplished by relief slots cut on the back of the valve pin that allows a small volume of high pressure air to "push" the hammer back to the cocked position relatching the sear under the hammer. There is also a Electro version of the mechanical gun. The difference is the sear is activated by a solenoid.
Electropneumatic guns use basically two kinds of valves: poppet and spool valves. These guns are very complex. The easiest to explain is the Bob Long 2k2 Intimidator. Instead if having a sear and hammer is has a ram and ram tub. It works like an air cylinder used in industrial applications. The board usually inside the grip frame (except on the invert mini) controls the back and forth movement of the ram that is housed inside the ram tube. The ram is attached to the bolt similarly to the mechanical gun except that instead of having a hole that the bolt pin fits into it has a slot. The speed of the ram is controlled by the dwell setting on the board. Dwell is the amount of time that the air solenoid is on (in Milliseconds). After that the operation of the gun is similar to the mechanical gun except for the initial firing of the gun.
After you can get a grasp on the basic function between the two then there are different bolt styles. I dont mean the actual bolt itself but the bot position at rest. There is colsed bolt (autocockers) and open bolt (Spyders and most other guns). In closed bolt guns before the trigger is pulled the bolt is already in the forward position. On open bolt guns once the trigger is pulled the bolt goes from open to closed and fires.
All in all different guns are good for different types of play. Electropneumatic guns are great for fast paced balls to the wall speed shooting and mechanic guns are generally very tough and dependable due to them not having electronics or batteries to break or go dead. MEchanical guns have a speed limitation though. They generally cant be fired faster than 15 balls per second without serious trigger and spring modifications. i.e. shorter trigger pull and a lighter spring or even a cut spring.

There are 2 General Catagories and sub catagories within them
1.Woodsball markers
1.Regular Marker(Tipmann 98,A5,X7, ect)- Semi Automatic only
2.Response Trigger(Tipmann 98,A5,X7 with RT, ect)- Faster semi automatic because the trigger uses gas to reset itself quicker
3.Electric(Tipmann 98,A5,X7 with e-grip, ect)- Semi, Rebound, Auto, Bursts, and/or other modes, electronic trigger that allows for programming the trigger and fastest shooting
2.Speedball Markers
1.Low End Markers(Spyder Sonix, Smart Parts Vibe)- Semi Automatic only, faster than woodsball markers because it is electric
2.Medium End Marker (Spyder Pilot, Smart Parts Ion)- Semi automatic, bursts, ramping,and/or auto
3.High End Markers(Dye Matrix, Planet Eclipse Ego)- Same as medium end markers except with higher rate of fire and other upgrades
