How can I modify my mountain bike to make it more like a BMX bike?
Feb 7th
My bike is already small, and its similar in size to a BMX bike. Im just starting to get into it, and I kinda want to make it look and function a little bit better.
And, if possible any ideas on how to make it look cooler?
would help if we knew what the bike was.
try getting wheels with a high number of spokes (40+) as these are usually seen on bmx’s. maybe remove the front brake and get a short stem, handlebars with a big bend in them. if you have three chain rings on the crankset, perhaps change that for a single chain ring crank, and stick a single speed sprocket on the back, rather than a gear cassette. that way you can remove any gear cables/shifters. bmx’s usually have a rigid fork on the front, so look into getting a rigid jump fork rather than suspension. lower the seat. maybe some of those funky retro bmx grips with the big rubber disc on the inside edge.
thats the best i can come up with from my imagination as i don’t know how your bike is set up.
How bad is the pain in paintball compared to airsoft?
Feb 7th
I’m wondering how bad paintball hurts compared to airsoft. I’m 14, but I am a huge wimp, but I also want to start paintball. I’ve been hit by an airsoft gun from about 20 feet away, and I thought it hurt a little bit. It wasn’t close to making me cry, but it stung a bit. I have a very low pain tolerance, and I want to know what getting hit by a paintball feels like, and what it relates to. I need a lot of help.
Before you go and buy anything, visit a local field and rent some gear, play a few games, and then you’ll know what it’s like to get shot. I play paintball frequently and don’t consider getting hit to be painfull, but I have a high pain tolerance and I haven’t played airsoft so I can’t give you a good comparison. Best way to figure out if paintball is your thing is to try it yourself. Just wear loose clothing and an extra shirt. Might also be a good idea to contact the field and see if they have beginner days/nights so you don’t run into some speedball nut who’s going to shoot the crap out of you. Most fields are generally well run and take into consideration the experience level of players.

How easy is it to break the axles on a bmx bike?
Feb 4th
I’m thinking of putting pegs on my bmx bike but I’m scared i might break the axles or whatever they’re called (that long piece of metal where the bolts, wheels, and pegs go). Because I tend to slam my back wheels really hard and when i do grinds like feeble i don’t wanna break it. Also, how do i stop myself from slamming down the back wheels?
People do it all the time. I don’t see why it would break them. If they are lower end you might have to worry but not after the first time.
What are some tips to buying paintball markers/guns?
Feb 4th
I am looking online because i am planning on buying a paintball marker for the first time but i don’t know what to look for. What brands are the best? Thanks
Do not buy Brass Eagle, JT USA, Stryker, or Viewloader branded markers. Also stay avoid buying a WGP Worrmachine.
Look for markers that are upgradable. There is no specific paintball marker type (mechanical or electronic,) model, or brand that you need to buy for woodsball or speedball, although it is ideal to have a faster electronic paintball marker for speedball. You can use electronic markers for woodsball.
Spyder VS2 is a good electronic paintball marker to start with. You can find new ones for $99-$150 or a factory re-manufactured for $70.
Tippmann 98 Custom is a great mechanical marker. It is built like a tank and very reliable. There is a vast amount of parts and upgrades available. You can pick up a new one for around $120. Since they are so reliable, your best option is find a used one for $50-$80.
Edit: The last I heard and this was last month, December 2008, the NPPL has gone bankrupt.
My suggestion is intended for a new player getting into the sport. If he wants and can afford a mid to high end marker, then by all means buy one or ask for suggestions. I do not know anyone who is just getting into the sport or buying their FIRST paintball marker that was willing to invest more than $200.
